Jamaica Introduces E10
Two weeks ago the government of Jamaica introduced the E10 fuel which is a mixture of ethanol and Gasoline. After the Government introduced the E-10 blend of gasoline, multi-national marketing companies have been accused of dragging their feet in distributing the commodity to service stations.
Approximately 100 stations were targeted and prepared under phase one of a major national programme to market and distribute E-10 as an alternative petroleum based commodity for motorists.
Energy Minister Clive Mullings told RJR News that he was dissatisfied with the low levels of availability of the product despite assurances from marketing companies to carry out a full scale roll out.
Clive Mullings, Energy Minister. “We would have hoped that by now, the marketing companies would have rolled out their entities all over the region served by the Kingston terminal but this is not happening as fast as we would like and therefore we’ve been making calls to them saying consumers are asking where’s the product, because they want to utilize it … we expect that they will step up their game,” he said.
