Grenadians prepare to go to the polls
Grenada’s two main political parties are hopeful that the majority of the more than 80 thousand registered voters will favour them to form the country’s next government, when they go to the polls on Tuesday. Electoral officials are hoping for a significant turnout in Tuesday’s elections
Some forty candidates are contesting the fifteen parliamentary seats in the election.
Prime Minister Keith Mitchell says he expects his New National Party to be re-elected based on his party’s record in government and with the help of the youth vote.
Meanwhile the NNP’s main rival - the National Democratic Congress, is suggesting that it has been able to effectively make its case to succeed the Mitchell administration this time around.
Opposition Leader Tillman Thomas mentioned the question of good governance as one of the key campaign pillars that the NDC leaned on as it crisscrossed the country in search of votes.
