Jamaica Introduces E10

e10 ethanol fuelTwo weeks ago the government of Jamaica introduced the E10 fuel which is a mixture of ethanol and Gasoline. After the Government introduced the E-10 blend of gasoline, multi-national marketing companies have been accused of dragging their feet in distributing the commodity to service stations.

Approximately 100 stations were targeted and prepared under phase one of a major national programme to market and distribute E-10 as an alternative petroleum based commodity for motorists.

Energy Minister Clive Mullings told RJR News that he was dissatisfied with the low levels of availability of the product despite assurances from marketing companies to carry out a full scale roll out.

Death toll of collapse school in Haiti rises

The number of people, who died in the collapse of a school in Haiti on Friday, has risen to at least 88.

Rescuers have been working around the clock to find survivors in the remains of the three-storey La Promesse College in a suburb of Port-au-Prince.

About 500 children and teachers were in the building when it collapsed.

President Rene Preval who visited the scene of the tragedy said rescue crews dropped water and biscuits through holes in the rubble to a group of children and focused their efforts on reaching them.
